Narrowed Topic: Children With AIDS in South Africa
1. What is the specific topic your group decided to focus on?
Our Is deciding on the specific topic “Children with Aids in South Africa”, we are going to try and help kids in South Africa who have AIDS. We will do this by starting fundraisers to raise enough money to help groups of children
2. Which organization did you choose to focus on and why?
We chose the UNICEF program organization because we thought they are doing a hue part in helping kids with Aids in South Africa. We also chose their site because it looks like a legitimate site and their goal is achievable and reasonable.
3. What exactly are they doing to try and combat or change your issue?
The discovered that roughly half the infants who contracted HIV from their mothers die before their second birthday, these people found a cure which is Antiviral Prophylaxis, they give this to a woman during pregnancy and to her infant shortly after her birth, doing this will sharply reduce the chance of the mother passing HIV infection to her baby. These people want to help prevent pregnant mothers who have HIV in South Africa and their kids.
4. What are some of the things you like about their program?
I like how the program helps children first, especially the ones on the street with no family. Also they have programs like this in many other countries. They also have many charities that you can donate to.
5. How do you plan to become involved with this organization or model your action plan after it?
Our original plan is to have a fundraiser/ Charity event. To do this we would have mini competitions and sell our old stuff such as: DVDs, CDs and old toys. With the money earned we will donate it to one of the charities.
